Plantronics CS530 Wireless Headset – DECT 6.0 Office Phone System
The CS530 is our lightest over-the-ear DECT wireless headset designed for all-day desk phone use. Weighing just 25 grams, the CS530 delivers crystal-clear audio over a secure DECT 6.0 connection with up to 350 feet of roaming range from the charging base.
We built the CS530 for professionals who spend hours on the phone – customer service teams, inside sales reps, receptionists, and office managers who need hands-free mobility without sacrificing call quality. The over-the-ear wearing style eliminates headband pressure, while the noise-canceling microphone filters out background office chatter so your voice stays clear on every call.
- 25-gram ultra-lightweight over-the-ear design for all-day comfort
- DECT 6.0 wireless technology – no interference from Wi-Fi networks
- Up to 350-foot range from base station through walls and floors
- One-touch call answer/end, volume +/–, and mute controls on headset
- Noise-canceling microphone reduces background noise by up to 75%
Materials & Construction – Built for Durability

The CS530’s 25-gram frame uses high-grade engineering polymers that flex without breaking, even after thousands of daily put-on and take-off cycles. We reinforced the mic boom hinge with stainless steel pins so it stays positioned exactly where you set it, call after call.
The soft foam ear cushion distributes contact pressure across a wider surface area than traditional earbud tips, preventing hot spots during marathon call sessions. The cushion attaches via a twist-lock mount so you can swap in a fresh one without tools when needed. Our field tests show the frame maintains its spring tension for over three years of typical office use, and the boom arm returns to position reliably even when folded flat for storage.
Wearing Options & Fit Adjustments

Out of the box, the CS530 ships configured for right-ear wear with the over-the-ear loop. You can reverse the speaker housing and flip the mic boom to switch to left-ear wear in under 30 seconds – no screwdriver required.
The ear loop itself adjusts along two axes: rotate the main loop to change how far it wraps behind your ear, then bend the soft inner wire to match your ear’s contour. Most users find their ideal fit within the first few calls. If you prefer behind-the-head wearing instead, order the optional convertible wearing kit (part 64394-31), which swaps the ear loop for a lightweight neckband that hooks over both ears.
###Range & Audio Performance### DECT 6.0 Technology

The CS530 operates on the 1.9 GHz DECT 6.0 frequency band, completely separate from the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands used by Wi-Fi routers, Bluetooth devices, and microwave ovens. That separation eliminates the static and dropouts common with older 2.4 GHz wireless office headsets.
In open-plan offices, we’ve measured reliable connections up to 350 feet from the base station. Through typical drywall partitions, expect 120–180 feet of usable range. The base continuously monitors signal strength and automatically switches between three internal antennas to maintain the clearest path as you move around desks, file rooms, and break areas. Wideband audio (6800 Hz frequency response) carries the full richness of human voice, so you hear subtle vocal cues that narrowband systems miss.

CS530 Questions from Office Managers & IT Teams
The CS530 is compatible with virtually all desk phones – analog, digital, and VoIP – via the included HL10 handset lifter. For VoIP phones with electronic hook switch (EHS) support, you’ll need a model-specific EHS cable for remote answer/end functionality.
Common EHS cables: APV-63 for Polycom VVX series, APU-75 for Cisco Unified IP phones, APC-45 for Avaya models. If you’re unsure which cable your phone needs, send us your phone’s make and model and we’ll confirm the right part number.
You’ll get up to 10 hours of continuous talk time per charge under typical office conditions. Standby time (headset powered on but not in a call) extends to several days.
Battery life decreases slightly in very cold environments or if you frequently roam to the edge of the 350-foot range, since the headset boosts transmit power to maintain the connection. Most users dock the headset overnight and never think about battery – it’s always ready by morning.
Yes. The speaker housing rotates 180 degrees and the mic boom pivots to either side, so you can switch from right-ear to left-ear wearing in under a minute with no tools.
The Quick Start guide included in the box shows the exact steps. If you prefer a behind-the-head wearing style, order the optional convertible kit (part 64394-31), which replaces the ear loop with a lightweight neckband.
Both models use the same DECT 6.0 base, deliver the same 350-foot range, and offer identical call quality and battery life. The CS530 is dedicated over-the-ear wearing only and weighs 25 grams.
The CS540 ships with four interchangeable wearing styles – over-the-ear, over-the-head, behind-the-head, and behind-the-neck – in one package, but weighs slightly more (32 grams in over-the-ear mode) due to the convertible frame design. Choose the CS530 if you know you prefer over-the-ear and want the absolute lightest option.
The headset has a dedicated mute button on the right earcup that you can press mid-call without looking. A voice prompt says ‘mute on’ or ‘mute off’ so you always know your status.
If you connect via an EHS cable (instead of the handset lifter), your desk phone’s mute indicator light will sync with the headset’s mute state automatically. With the HL10 lifter, mute is local to the headset only – your phone won’t show mute status, but the other party still can’t hear you when the headset is muted.
You can deploy dozens of CS530 systems in a single office with zero cross-talk. Each base automatically selects one of several available DECT channels during initial pairing, and the headset and base communicate on a secure encrypted link unique to that pair.
In dense call center environments with 50+ headsets, we recommend spacing base stations at least three feet apart to minimize any potential adjacent-channel effects, though interference is extremely rare even in tight quarters.
Every CS530 package includes the over-the-ear headset, DECT 6.0 charging base, HL10 handset lifter, telephone interface cable, AC power adapter, and Quick Start guide.
EHS cables for specific phone models are sold separately. Replacement ear cushions, spare batteries, and additional handset lifters are also available as standalone accessories if you need backups or replacements down the road.
