Plantronics P10 Amplifier
The Plantronics P10 is a lightweight, plug-and-play amplifier designed to give you full control over your corded headset calls. We built this unit to solve a simple problem: desk phones don’t always deliver the volume or call-control flexibility that headset users need. The P10 sits between your phone and your headset, giving you dedicated volume and mute controls at your fingertips.
Our engineering team designed the P10 for simplicity. There’s no software to install, no drivers to update—just connect your existing corded headset to the amplifier, plug the amplifier into your desk phone, and you’re ready to take calls. The unit works with virtually all Plantronics corded headsets and most competitor models that use a standard quick-disconnect connector. We’ve included visual indicators for power and mute status, so you always know whether your mic is live or silenced.
- One-touch answer/end and mute buttons for instant call control
- Volume dial with LED indicator for precise audio adjustment
- Compatible with standard 2.5mm and quick-disconnect headset connectors
- Receive-volume boost up to 15dB for clearer caller audio
- Transmit-volume control to ensure your voice is heard clearly
How the P10 connects to your phone system

The Plantronics P10 uses a modular handset-cord connection to integrate with your desk phone. You unplug the existing handset cord from the base of your phone, connect it to the input port on the P10, then run a second cord from the P10’s output port back to the phone. Your headset plugs into the P10’s quick-disconnect socket. This passthrough design means your handset still works normally when the headset isn’t in use—lift the handset and the call routes through the handset speaker; connect the headset and the call routes through the headset.
The unit draws power from the phone line itself, so there’s no need for a wall adapter or USB cable. As long as your desk phone is powered on, the P10 is ready to amplify. We’ve tested this configuration with major PBX and VoIP desk-phone brands, and the P10’s passive design ensures broad compatibility without requiring firmware updates or manual provisioning.
Volume and call-control features

Volume adjustment
The P10’s volume dial gives you a 15dB boost range on incoming audio. If callers sound too quiet on your current setup, rotating the dial clockwise increases receive volume without distortion. The green LED ring around the dial brightens as you turn it up, giving you a visual reference for your current level. We also included transmit-volume control on the underside of the unit, accessible via a recessed dial—this lets IT administrators or individual users fine-tune how loud your voice sounds to the person on the other end.
Call control
The answer/end button on the front panel works with compatible phones to pick up and hang up calls remotely, so you don’t need to reach for the handset or the phone’s keypad. The mute button silences your microphone instantly, and the red LED indicator stays lit as long as mute is active. We designed this visual feedback to prevent the common mistake of talking into a muted mic during a meeting.
Compatibility with headsets and desk phones

The Plantronics P10 works with any headset that terminates in a quick-disconnect (QD) connector—the industry-standard plug used by most Plantronics corded models and many third-party headsets. If your headset has a 2.5mm jack instead, the P10 includes an adapter cable in the box. On the phone side, the amplifier is compatible with analog and digital desk phones from Avaya, Cisco, Polycom, Mitel, and other major manufacturers. The unit does not work with softphone applications or USB headsets—it’s purpose-built for traditional desk-phone environments.
For users who need advanced features like acoustic limiting or wideband audio, the Vista M22 amplifier in our catalog offers those capabilities, though the P10 remains the right choice when simplicity and one-touch call control are the priority. We recommend the P10 for call-center agents, receptionists, and office workers who spend most of their day on the phone and want reliable, no-fuss amplification.

What people are saying

Frequently asked questions about the P10 amplifier
Yes, the P10 is compatible with most VoIP desk phones that use analog handset connections. It works with Cisco, Polycom, Yealink, and other major VoIP phone brands. The amplifier connects via the standard modular handset port, so as long as your phone has that port, the P10 will integrate without issues. It does not work with softphone applications or USB headsets.
No, the P10 is designed exclusively for corded headsets with quick-disconnect or 2.5mm connectors. Wireless headsets have their own base stations that handle amplification and call control, so an external amplifier like the P10 is not needed and would not be compatible.
The P10 offers up to 15 decibels of receive-volume boost. This is enough to make quieter callers clearly audible without introducing distortion. The exact boost you’ll experience depends on your phone’s baseline output and your headset model, but most users find the adjustment range more than sufficient for typical office and call-center environments.
The answer/end button is compatible with phones that support electronic hook-switch (EHS) or have a dedicated headset port with call-control signaling. Most modern Cisco, Avaya, and Polycom phones support this feature. Older analog phones may not respond to the button press. If your phone doesn’t support remote answering, you can still use the P10 for volume control and mute—you’ll just need to pick up and hang up calls using your handset or phone keypad.
No, the P10 draws power from your desk phone’s line connection. There are no batteries to replace and no wall adapter to plug in. As long as your phone is powered on, the amplifier is operational.
Yes, the P10 includes a transmit-volume control on the underside of the unit. This recessed dial lets you increase or decrease the microphone input level, ensuring that your voice reaches callers at the right volume. Most users set this once during initial setup and leave it in place.
The P10 is a straightforward amplifier focused on volume control, mute, and basic call answering. The Vista M22 adds acoustic limiting to protect your hearing from sudden loud noises, wideband audio support for higher voice clarity, and more granular tone adjustments. If you need hearing protection or work in a regulated call-center environment, the M22 is the better choice. For everyday office use where simplicity is the priority, the P10 delivers everything most users need.
